February 2011 Earthquake

February-2011-Earthquake

Due to the February earthquake, our Christchurch branch on Colombo Street has no longer been able to operate due to its location in the CBD. We know our shop has been Green Stickered and were allowed time in April to remove anything of importance in a three hour window, the food was thrown away! The building has held up extremely well with no cracks and the only damage being some shelves upstairs which were holding packaging that fell over. We are told that it won’t be until September/October that we will have full access once again. It has been with a lot of thought that has lead us to the decision not to re-open a branch in Christchurch - a hard decision due to the fact that we have such a loyal base of customers in town. Our lovely Christchurch staff made it out safely on the day of the earthquake and have since moved on, retired or are now working with us at Artisan Café in Rangiora.

We hope that our Christchurch customers will come out to Rangiora and visit us in our wonderful Café where we offer the usual goodies and so much more! Well worth a journey we guarantee, even if only for lunch or coffee. We are also happy to say that a Christchurch company has allowed us to use them as a pick-up point for Christchurch customers wanting to place cake orders with us. It is lovely and central and has plenty of easy, off street parking. Ballantynes also carry most of our Easter and Christmas stock at those times of the year.
